Zo’n tien jaar voor Sally Potters Orlando en meer dan veertig jaar voor die van Paul B. Preciado biedt Ulrike Ottinger met Freak Orlando én een eigen interpretatie van Virginia Woolfs roman én een magistrale masterclass in lesbische camp. Freak Orlando biedt dan ook het startpunt voor Our Story om tijdens deze avond de camp-tactieken in Ottingers films te ontleden en ze in een bredere geschiedenis van het gebruik en de politiek van camp te plaatsen, van de cinema van James Whale tot die van Rosa von Praunheim, van de fanfictie van Xena Warrior Princess tot de acties van Queer Nation.
